Case study · Otsego High School · Tontogany, Ohio
One program.
Decades of connected history.
OtsegoDistance brings cross country and track & field results together in a resource that athletes, coaches, alumni and families can explore.

The results existed.
The connections didn't.
A program's history can be scattered across result files, spreadsheets, school records and newspaper references. Names change, event labels vary, and one performance can appear in several places.
The Otsego project combines research with careful review: identifying duplicate records, reconciling athlete names, standardizing performance marks and retaining meet context. The goal is a useful archive that can keep improving as more information is found.
01 · A result you can find
Turn a question into a performance list.
Choose an event and explore the results. Athletes, marks, meet dates and placements are organized together, making it easier to compare performances across generations.
Try the live performance archive
02 · An athlete you can follow
Give each performance a place in the story.
Open an athlete and see personal bests, event rankings and meet-by-meet results. Relay performances retain the athletes who ran them, connecting individual history to the team.

One performance, connected
1:57.82 is more than a time.
Kyle Kutchenriter's 800m result from May 26, 2000 appears in the performance archive and his athlete profile. Its meet date links to the results from that day.
What makes the archive useful
Careful work behind every view.
These are the building blocks we can adapt to another program. Your proposal defines the sources, years, sports and features included.
Documented sources
Keep source references and retrieval notes with the research. Publishing an archive does not require republishing newspaper articles or images.
Review before importing
Check name variants, duplicates and unusual marks; preserve unresolved gaps for later review.
Sport-aware records
Support times, field marks, relay lineups and historical event formats without treating every result the same way.
Room to grow
Add seasons, update corrections and connect results to rosters, summaries and championship tools.
Build around your own history
Start with the archive you have.
One season, one sport or a longer history. We'll help define a useful first phase, with a written scope and price before work begins.
